I was trying to find a show to watch to help pass the time while I was folding laundry. As I was scrolling through Netflix my jaw dropped. The show starts with the wife having a break down at the side of the road. An older Japanese couple come by and ask if she needs help. The show then proceeds with how the two first met in college and how their life has progressed over time.
Kumiko and Kenichi meet in college and build a happy marriage together. But over time, an unusual problem threatens to destroy their relationship. Kumiko leaves the boondocks to attend college, where she meets sophomore education major Kenichi. When they start dating, they discover a problem. After two years together, Kenichi applies for a job in Yamanashi. After some fruitless research, Kumiko later finds a ray of hope for their issues.
Kumiko, played by Natsumi Ishibashi , is a shy and nervous college freshman. She moves into run-down student accommodation having shaking off the constant browbeating from her overbearing mother. There she quickly meets sophomore student Kenichi when he strolls into her room and makes himself at home. What follows over 10 episodes is the emotional impact that a lack of sexual compatibility has on an otherwise well-suited relationship.
This show is hilarious! I know she can have sex with other guys so why not her husband? It's a conundrum.
