Gorillas documented having lesbian sex for the first time
Gorilla sexual intrigue could explain human monogamy | New Scientist
A couple years ago, Benjamin Weissman had a disturbing sex dream about a gorilla. These works raise questions about bestiality, certainly, and taboo desires in general, but they also probe more existential questions about the line between human and animal. Weissman depicts her in various poses — shy, sexy, beatific. Rendered in pastel and charcoal on paper, the drawings also range from isolated portraits to lavish dreamscapes, populated with Renaissance putti and flowers.
‘Masters of Sex’ 3×7 Recap: Hot Girl on Gorilla Action
Female gorillas have been documented engaging in lesbian sex for the first time. The behaviour was observed by scientists during a research trip to the Rwandan section of the Virunga mountain range in central Africa. The wild mountain gorillas, observed by a team led by Dr Cyril Grueter of the University of Western Australia, are believed to gain pleasure from having sex and may do it when they have been rejected by males. While many species of male primates are well known to engage in homosexual behaviour, females have been subject to far less attention. Female gorillas have also been observed having lesbian sex in Uganda, but the data has not been published or subject to scrutiny.
Twice is coincidence. Nevertheless, the core contention about the need for three examples to establish a pattern remains applicable. Tonight, after a season-long dry spell, Masters of Sex well and truly got its freak on, with three separate examples of the erotically off-kilter encounters that used to be its greatest attraction. All it took was a little animal instinct for the show to go bananas once again. Yet what they came up with was pretty interesting, in the end.
